Outwitting Counterfeiters:  Opportunities in Security Printing

Counterfeit packaging is a multi-billion business, and the package printer can play a critical role in protecting brand integrity.  This session will look at the needs of the brand owner and what is expected from the package printer and the security technologies provided.  Security printing strategies and tools for packaging and labels will be discussed, which provide opportunities for the packaging printer and converter to work with brand owners to provide overall protection, as well as the latest trends in packaging security, such as machine readable features.

  • Digital Press Evolution:  Inline Converting Capabilities for Folding Cartons, Flexible Packaging and Other Applications Add Value
    Agfa Graphic's :Dotrix Modular combines high speed digital printing with converting options for labels and flexible packaging, incorporation traditional UV flexo printing stations for coating and varnishing, plus slitting, die cutting and sheeter installations. Kristof Dekekelaere, Sales Manager for Dotrix North America reviews how these technologies increase efficiency and lower production costs for short and medium job runs.

    Xerox has introduced the iGen4 Automated Packaging Solutions for production of folding cartons: personalized, die cut and ready for folding and gluing.  This digital press can be equipped with aqueous or UV coating, plus foil stamping can be added to the die cutting module.  Rosie Madison, Vice President, Industry, Photo and Packaging Marketing discusses the possibilities of highly-customized packaging options.

Brand Colour Management and Proofing
What are the expectaions of consumer product companies (CPC) when it comes to Brand Colour Management between different suppliers, and across different print processes?  What impact do these expectations have on hte converters?  This session will help to identify what the CPC's are looking for, what converters are being asked to do to meet these requirements, and identify some of the tools and processes that prepress providers are using to help satisfy the requirements of CPC's, as well as the needs of converters.
